GLENN HUGHES: Seven Songs Written For Next Album
February 18, 2007Legendary bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) took part in a online chat with the Glenn Hughes Fan Forum on Saturday, February 17. When asked about when fans can expect to hear the follow-up to his latest album, "Music for the Divine", Hughes responded, "The songwriting has already started. I have seven songs. (Drummer) Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) will be on the album. I really can't say who else at the moment. I am sure there will be a surprise. Chad will also be involved in the production. Right now we plan on doing the recording at his house in Malibu. We are shooting for October/November, if possible."
Glenn Hughes announced during an appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" on February 7 that he will launch a U.S. tour late spring/early summer. The first scheduled concert is Saturday, June 2 at The Roxy in West Hollywood, California. More dates will be announced soon.
As previously reported, Glenn Hughes has posted the video for the song "This House" from his latest solo album "Music for the Divine" on his MySpace page. Featuring Glenn on vocals and bass guitar, Chad Smith on drums and JJ Marsh on acoustic guitar, the clip was filmed at Chad's home in the Hollywood Hills, California and directed by Jon Cohan.
"Music for the Divine" received its long-awaited U.S. release late January via Demolition Records. The CD, which is available in Europe on Frontiers Records, was recorded in Chad Smith's house and again features Smith on drums and longtime Glenn Hughes collaborator JJ Marsh on guitar. Also featured are RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist John Frusciante and Mark Killian, who has provided the string arrangements and keyboards.
Glenn recently announced his new touring band as Jeff Kollman on guitar, Mark Mondesir on drums and Anders Olinder on keyboards.
